Look at my big girl~!

CNY is all about food, angpau, gambling, drinking, visiting, etc etc. So for sure I did all of the above. Sorta. Not much on the gambling part, but meh. Usually every year, I would gamble on blackjack, but not this year. Not sure why :/ No dealer? Lol. Darling bought a mini set of cards which is damn cute. But freaking difficult to shuffle the deck though!

First day! Visited grandparents’ home in Old Town PJ as usual. I think I mentioned before that the highlight of the day was Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom with Darling. It’s freaking far, but I think I don’t mind going there again hehe. Why not? Apparently they have different themes for the lantern decorations each year, so it won’t be a boring thing to go to ![]()

On the 2nd day of CNY, we were at 2nd aunt’s house to lepak, but got bored too quickly lol. So the siblings and I scooted to Pavillion supposedly to meet a cousin and watch a movie, but the queue was too long. So we ended up spending a couple of hours at Starbucks and an hour or two window shopping. Maxed out our time and went back to aunt’s house for dinner. That night, we went out to have a drink cause again, too bored in the house already. Ended up at Station One, and ordered a bucket of beer. I finally learned how to play bluff with dice
Though I’m still not very good… I called wrongly a couple of times lol.

3rd day, left for Kuantan already. Details are on the blog post just before this one, so I’m not gonna type it twice lol.
Came back to KL on the 5th day. About time too, was getting too bored in Kuantan. Went to Petaling Street with Darling and his cousin. Just for kicks. I had my favorite taufufah hehe. Damn hot day though. As though I wasn’t dehydrated enough X_x Then went to Sungei Wang cause they wanted to try the new toilet concept restaurant there. Ew. It’s quite disturbing to have a meal sitting on a toilet bowl. Seriously, I mean look, this is the table setting!

If you wanna eat here for the heck of it, just to try out the “ambience”, then go ahead. But I’m warning you, the food sucks. Among 3 of us, there were noodles, rice, porridge, and soup (served in toilet bowl and bathtub shaped bowls). All were no good >.< What, do you expect good food in the toilet? Haha. Ok that was gross
I bet everyone was waiting for the 6th day hehe. I spent half the day with Darling, then I had to go home in time for dinner. Most of the relatives came over to our house. My godma aka 4th aunt brought yee sang from the hotel chinese restaurant where she works. First class quality yee sang with heaps of salmon sashimi. Ooooooh this is what I look forward to the most every year lol.

After having this big appetizer, we all went out for chinese dinner. Sis and I were out again as soon as we got home. Yes you guessed it, boredom lol. She wanted a ratless place, so that means no mamak? Decided on Coffeebean in the end, just cause there were no Starbucks open nearby. Made the mistake of being adventurous by ordering something I haven’t tried and there was a possibility that I didn’t like it. True enough. I couldn’t take another sip of Sunrise. I like orange juice as it is, but not when it’s mixed with vanilla powder >.< Yuck. So I asked to change my drink to a completely different one without charge haha. Mango frut-tea, yum…
7th day, woot! I had plans with the chicas and a chico (John haha). They visited my home first in the late morning. Then went to have a light lunch at OldTown before we head to visit Jocey’s home. After that we went to Sunway Pyramid to have dinner. Already pre-decided for Sakae Sushi because they have cheap yee sang that Iks can try for the first time. It wasn’t exactly the actual yee sang, but heh. Close enough. Next year we plan to go to Madam Kwan’s instead so that she can try REAL yee sang haha.
8th day, oh nooo last day of holiday! Went to watch 72 Tenants of Prosperity with the family. Yeah, 2nd time for me, but it was still funny haha. After that, went to 2nd aunt’s house again to have dinner, because 5th aunt was around. They had thoughts to stay for ‘bai tien gong’ (prayers to the Jade Emperor, aka Hokkien’s CNY). But I had work the next day. Plus, I was getting too sickly already after ignoring it for a few days lol. Had to get home, pop some pills, and sleep.
9th day, Monday, back to work, wheeee =_= Nothing to say lol.
10th day, the family came to pick me up from the office for lunch hour. I was in sort of a grim mood, because that was the last time that I saw my siblings until… a long time! And it was also the last time I saw mom til another 6 weeks. I thought I wouldn’t cry if I didn’t go send them off at the airport, but I was wrong. As I was hugging them goodbye, I couldn’t have walked away any sooner. Tears were welling up in my eyes >.< I guess I’m kinda used to Sis being away all the time, and I’m getting used to the idea that Bro is away too. But I’m totally not used to Mom not being here with me! Mommyyyyy…!! T_T
It’s the 12th day today, CNY celebrations will be officially over soon. Hope everyone had a good start to the Tiger year, rawr~!
Posted under Happenings, HolidaysI’m back after a week-long hiatus! The CNY break has been great, I dreaded going back to work after fooling around doing nothing productive for 10 days straight haha. I have so much to tell that I can’t recall all of it at the moment
One at a time then!
I last blogged about standing by to leave for Kuantan on a family trip. It was good, overall. But I have to say. There really is nothing much to do at all in Kuantan other than the beaches. This was my 2nd time to Kuantan, and I must say I kinda missed Telok Chempedak. Not so anything else, cause there was nothing! Haha. See how nice it is, beats PD anytime!

We had seafood dinner at the same place on both nights because we really don’t know where else to go
Juicy prawns, lobster, crab at Pak Su Seafood Restaurant. We tried to get some karipap at Taman Gelora, but we were there too early and the stall was just setting up. The downside of being with parents is that they’ll give up waiting and leave right away without another thought lol. If I were with friends, I bet we’re just gonna lepak by the beach while waiting for the karipap. Oh well.
Sunbathed for a couple of hours with Sis. Initially just wanted to accompany her, and lie down under a shade while she tanned. But there were no unoccupied umbrella by the poolside, so I thought what the heck. Tan then tan lah. Slapped on my SPF120 sunblock lol. Gosh, I sure tan as quickly as it fades… Talk about feeling dehydrated though!
Oh it was supposedly monsoon season on the east coast, so the red flag was up all the time that we were there. I just took walks along the beach with my feet in the water. The wind was crazy, and so were the waves. I was too chicken to go any deeper than ankle-depth, but my siblings were braver lol. So they dumped their phones and camera to me and went to play the waves. Imagine! My feet were only ankle-deep, but the waves were strong enough that when they hit the shore a couple of metres away from me, the water rushed in til the water rose up to my knees! And I felt the undertow under my feet as the sand shifted and buried my toes. Fuiyoh…
Good to be back in KL though. Back to the hustle and bustle? Lol. I have a theory to why KL is so congested compared to the other states. Ever notice how much less crowded it becomes during festive seasons when people travel outstation back to their hometowns? THAT’s how KL is supposed to be! Those that don’t have hometowns to travel outstation to are the REAL locals of KL. So, it’s yooooou people who move here from the other states are the reason why it’s so congested! Haha XD Makes sense, yes?
No offense to y’all ya, I’m just saying hehe. Technically, my father is one of them, so… XP
Now standing by to leave home for 3 days to have a family holiday trip in Kuantan. It’s day 3 of CNY, and this is the first time that the family goes on a trip during CNY. Three days in Kuantan with the family, what is there to do?? Hang out at Teluk Chempedak all day lol.
Bah… I miss my Darling. I wish I could spend more time with him during this CNY break >.< But we did have a good time on day 1 slash V-day. We went to FGS Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom. Near Banting. Super far, right? But I suppose it was all worth it, because there was a floral and lantern festival thing going on, and it was beautiful. It was all so lovely, and I loved it, especially when I have Darling with me the whole time
After that we went to watch a CNY movie, 72 Tenants of Prosperity. Starring every single TVB actor/actress that you’ve seen on Hong Kong drama series and movies haha. I dunno about you, but I thought it was funny. And stupid. Stupid funny! (Lol curik yek, Iks XD)
It’s Chinese New Year eve! What makes this year so special is that in 2010, CNY coincides with Valentine’s day. This will probably never happen again in a long long time! Most of my chinese friends have a dilemma of being unable to celebrate V-day because they have to be home for CNY. Therefore, most of them had celebrated V-day earlier before they had to head back to their hometowns for CNY. However, I don’t have that problem lol.
For one, I don’t have a hometown to go back to, and Darling doesn’t go back to his hometown so early into CNY. So, despite being CNY, I’m still free at night to see him for V-day lol. Probably nothing V-day about our date tomorrow, but doesn’t matter. V-day is overrated and commercialised anyway. I just wanna spend it with my loved one ^^
About 10 minutes more before we officially enter the year of the Tiger. May the roaring new year be blessed with the best of luck for everyone! Let me have my ‘pet’ tigers wish you. Introducing Earthquake, Avalanche, and Hurricane, respectively:

Last Saturday I went to Sungei Wang after work to meet Jocey for CNY clothes shopping. While waiting for her, I grabbed some quick snack for lunch. Had a corn-in-a-cup and a single scoop of chocolate gelato, yummy~ Finally she arrived and the moment that we saw each other, we were like, EEP~! We did discuss to wear shorts, but little did we know that we end up wearing extremely similar outfits! Both of us wearing shocking pink tank tops in the same ribbed knitted fabric, and similar black shorts with the hems folded up. I must say, it was weird to be walking around looking like twinnies haha, that sure captured people’s attention.
Late evening, my mom, sis and bro purposely came to meet us at Kimgary just for tea. Well, me and Jocey had dinner and they had tea hehe.
Oh I must tell you about a certain shop. As random as Sungei Wang shops go, I didn’t get the name of that shop, but I think it’s on the 1st floor? Anyway, they have a lot of items but no customers. Wonder why? It’s either because they’re too expensive for what they’re worth, or the retail team are too pushy to make a sale. I didn’t see anything I like, so I was just hanging around waiting for Jocey to try on some dresses. The salesgirl that attended to me kept recommending stuff to me that I disliked. In the end I took one top to try just to layan her. Pity her that she’s trying so hard lol. I guess it’s fine, but I don’t like it, plus it’s too expensive for what it’s worth. The salesgirl seemed disappointed, but sorry lah.
But what pissed me off was the salesguy. He’s one of em lala-looking dudes. Tall and skinny, wearing a deep-V tshirt with overcoat, skinny jeans, and super waxed blonde hair, with fringe covering one eye. He didn’t look like he was working there lol. He recommended me a really ugly outfit. Imagine this: Pastel yellow woven halterneck with ruffles, paired with a very faded denim minivest, matched with a light brown weaved belt with a heavy buckle. His english had a western accent, I dunno…
“Very trendy in the Taiwan style,” he said. “In fashion and sweet colours,” he said. I felt insulted. When will I ever be dressed to look “sweet”? In my mind, I was screaming, “That is the uglist match-up piece of shit I’ve ever seen!”… But of course I just politely declined that “It’s ok, that’s not my style.” What he said next made me sooo wanna beat the hell out of him.
“Well, you don’t always need to keep to your style only. That’s what make shopping fun, you try new styles all the time. Or else it would be very boring.”
Dude. Ok…
1. You don’t even know what I prefer and you’re recommending me an ugly match.
2. My pink-toned skin looks awful in yellow.
3. Faded denim? Fine. Denim vest? So not!
4. Brown belt with that faded denim? That is so outdated, like 20 years ago.
5. You’re giving me advice on shopping? That’s insulting!
6. That is seriously an ugly match.
7. I bet it’s expensive too.
If only he knew that he’s talking to a fashion designer with standards.
Posted under Happenings, Rants & WhinesRemember my “Recap” post on January 26th? I mentioned that I was temporarily in charge of my colleague’s inventory stuff, stock was coming in and going out. Well, I arrived to the office on Monday morning, and my heart sank to see this on my desk:

Ugh, he left post-it notes all over telling me of my tasks for the next couple of days… My thought at that moment, “Kill me now, please.”
