Selamat hari raya!

Posted by Jules on September 30, 2008

Selamat Hari Raya to Ika & family, and to all my other muslim friends as well =D Hope you guys enjoy your “kuih dan muih, beraneka macam” wearing your “baju baru warna-warni” during this “setahun hanya sekali” celebration of “Aidilfitri mulia”, and be careful when you “balik kampung, wo ho ho, balik kampung”. XD Quotes from random Raya songs that I don’t really know lol.

I’m happy ’cause the rest of us get 2 days holiday in the middle of the week XD I love it! Haha!

Busy but not complainin’

Posted by Jules on September 29, 2008

Is it just me, or do I seem to get busier by the week? Work has been crazy, I’m receiving jobs nonstop and it just keeps on coming before I could even be done with the first job. Then I have to put a pause on the first thing and work on the latest thing, then get back to the first thing later. Sigh… It seems like such a norm now to be leaving the office when it’s already dark out.

However~! My only complaint is that I’m in need of a good massage to relief my tired neck and shoulders. Work itself isn’t really as bad anymore, despite what I’ve ranted about it before. I like the flexibility at the workplace and i also like the variety in the jobscope. In Xixili, everything is only about bra patterning. Always the same thing… patterning and more patterning. But here, I get to design not only girls T-shirts, but also stuff that I had not done before in Extreme. Men’s T-shirts, shirts, girls tops, jackets, pants, jeans! I even have to do hangtags and labels (even though I don’t like doing that but hey, you learn something new everyday XD).

Yup, despite my complaints in my previous posts from last month, I’m starting to think that this might just be THE right job (finally haha). Good pay (I finally can save money without problem!), good location (no toll, only 15km!), good colleagues (friendly and funny people!), good jobscope (variety of work, travel opportunity!). But OK, so I still might not stay in this company forever =P cause I still wanna be Buibui boss XD

Speaking of which, check out the shop @ http://buibuidesigns.blogspot.com as I just put up a couple of new items =)

Suprise for ika

Posted by Jules on September 23, 2008

Last Saturday, Jo and I celebrated Ika’s birthday by dressing up pretty for a girls nite out! We had a nice dinner at Chili’s KLCC, after-dinner mamak, and sleepover at my place.

While we were getting ready (dressed, makeup, hair) at my place, we presented Ika with her birthday present. What we did was we stuffed the main present into a 2nd cheaper present as a trick lol. Just for the heck of it cause it’s so fun to kacau Ika XD

It drove her crazy having to wait to open the present, I insisted to wait for Jo cause I knew she must want to see Ika’s reaction as well. Especially when the gift wrapper is full of question mark patterns haha. It’s deliberate XD So anyway, finally Jo came and Ika couldn’t have waited another minute longer. She tore off the wrappers and ta-da! Ooooh it’s a small sling bag, and its bright pink! (Please take note that the bag is the 2nd gift. The main deal is still INSIDE the bag). Ika starts raving about how nice and cool it is and how much she loves it, yada yada yada, while me and Jo tries to stifle our laughs with huge grins on our faces.

So Ika checked out her new bag. Slinging it on her shoulder, inspecting it up down left right. Then she unzipped it to check out the interior. Then she found a lump of something black in it, wrapped in plastic. And she went, “Eh? What’s this?”

Jo and I just looked at each other, still stiffling our laughs, with blank faces. We prepared for everything for this suprise BUT we did not prepare for the reaction of when she opens the bag and asks “what’s this” XD Then we just burst out laughing our heads off haha. Ika, very quickly she knew something was up and unwrapped the black thing from the plastic wrap. Guess what? It’s the dress that she tried on 2 months ago but she didn’t buy it cause it costed too much for her budget. It’s THE perfect dress for her and it’s a huge shame if she didn’t have it. So after she left, I quickly texted Jo and asked if she wants to chip in for it. And the rest is history XD

Without skipping a beat, Ika hopped over and hugged us both, extremely happy, and said, “OK I’m wearing this!!”. And so she did, it’s the only time that I’ve been out with her that she’s in a beautiful black dress (while Jo and I are both in fashion jeans lol). Sigh, it’s so much fun to get all dolled up for a simple nite out with my girls, just chillaxing.

Edit: Here’s the smiling birthday girl!

And the 3 lovely chicks of the nite!

Music is the soul

Posted by Jules on September 19, 2008

I love music. Doesn’t everyone? The difference is that each person probably loves different genre of music. Pop, rock’n'roll, heavy metal, R&B, trance, techno, house, jazz, opera, classical… the list goes on and on… Grunge, garage, alternative even.

For me, I’m more inclined towards rock, hiphop, and retro. Slightly funny combination, no? Lol. I don’t particularly have favorite bands/artistes, cause I like variety. I don’t care what language it’s in, or which era it’s from. My playlist is a mixture of (eg) English: Alter Bridge, Eminem, Men At Work… Japanese: Gazette, Soul’d Out, Orange Range… Chinese: Beyond, SoftHard, Justin. As long as it sounds good, then that’s good enough for me!

Anyway, the point that I wanted to say in the first place was that today, music is getting more and more… no good, so the speak. Some rock are turning a little pathetic. I mean like, some of the lyrics are getting quite sappy, don’t you think? Hinder’s Lips Of An Angel really turned me off.

Some hiphop are turning to be a bit techno. Ok, so the songs may sound good, but it ain’t R&B no more, yo. I’m talking about In This Club (Usher), Forever (Chris Brown) and Closer (Ne-yo). Is it just me, or does these songs sound techno-ish? Lol. Is it the trend now?

And people wonder why someone my age loves listening to retro and classic rock. Or like how they say it, “old songs” lol. Usually I answer them, “Don’t you think that the new songs these days suck?”. And you know what, most of them agree XD What “old songs” do I listen to? Eg, the likes of Guns’n'Roses, Earth Wind & Fire, Queen, Duran Duran, Belinda Carlisle, Abba, Metallica, Nirvana, Toto, Roxette, Air Supply, Billy Joel, Chicago, Scorpions, Wham, etc. It’s good shit!

Hey but I DO listen to newer songs okay! I do like songs by Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Black Eyed Peas, Mika, David Cook, Linkin Park, Muse, Jason Mraz, Chamillionaire, Gnarls Barkley, Metro Station, Timbaland, Tori Amos, etc.

I also like some non-english songs. Like:

Chinese: Soler, Mayday, LeeHom, Alex Fong, Wilber Pan, Jay Chou (yes lahhh he’s ok mah), etc.
Japanese: Chemistry, Bennie K, Crystal Kay, Ketsumeishi, Pierrot, Puffy AmiYumi, etc.
Korean: Fly To The Sky, HOT, JTL, etc.
Malaysian: Innuendo, OAG, Pop Shuvit, etc.
Indonesian: Glenn Fredly, Peter Pan, Sheila On 7, etc.

Didn’t I tell you I love variety? :) Drop me a message if you want me to recommend something new (or old lol).

ps: I just realise that I don’t have many females in my favorites @_@ Also this turned out to be a very random useless post about nothing interesting lol.

tired

Posted by Jules on September 16, 2008

Why is tomorrow’s public holiday specifically for certain states only instead of the whole country? Sigh. Just my luck. Again. I’ve always works for KL area and never Selangor, this makes me miss a handful of public holiday breaks. How I wish that it’s a public holiday tomorrow for me too. I’m feeling kinda tired lately, and I’m not sure why. Usually I can stay up til midnight, no problem. But these couple of days, I’m ready to collapse in bed sleeping like a log as early as 10pm.

Just when I have Buibui work to do, I lose the energy. Got a stack of shirts for my brother’s class graduation to iron to set the painted-on names, then pack them back into their individual plastic bags. And my package from my supplier finally arrived for my new stock for Buibui. But all I wanna do now is sleep cause I feel a headache coming again, just like last night…

Happy birthday honey~

Posted by Jules on September 16, 2008

Happy birthday to my sweetheart Calvin :) My man’s hitting the big three-0 this year lol. He’s gonna kill me that I keep emphasising that part :P

30 30 30~!! XD

We kinda celebrated it on Sunday night. Just a simple japanese dinner in 1Utama. Jo and Dennis were there too on an impromptu outing, so we had fun double dating hehe. After dinner, we parted. Me and Calvin went window shopping for a watch that he would like. Finally found a nice Seiko diving watch, which I got him as a birthday present.

Costed me a bit, but it’s all worth it that he’s happy and loves the watch :)

Back from singapore

Posted by Jules on September 10, 2008

I just got back from a Singapore work trip with my bosses and a Hongkie colleague. It was such a last minute thing for me as I only got the call on Monday 10pm and we were to leave KL at 7am the next day. Luckily I already asked my dad to fetch my passport from the bank’s safety deposit box in advance!

So yeah, I was a little bit late cause I totally forgot about the early morning jam ^^;; The journey there was tiring cause we were travelling by car and it’s at least 4 hours til Woodlands checkpoint! What else to do? Nap! But surely I didn’t nap for a full 4 hours in the car. So uncomfortable. So I just napped halfway and what did I do for the other half of the journey? Snapshots XD

Myself first, of course lol. See my bored face of nothing to do. Thank god for my mp3 player!
me

Our drivers yang bergaya :P ‘GuaiLou’ and Alfred, respectively. Personally I prefer the latter’s driving XD See, he’s more focused lol.
guailou alfred

Nothing much to shoot at, so let’s see what’s outside.

ladang Meh… just the usual plantations.

sky Nice weather tho.
The sun is out but it ain’t too hot.

After what seemed like forever, we finally reached customs! Yippee, crossing over the borders. Singapore, we’re coming!
crossing

Nothing much to shoot at in Singapore itself, it’s just like any other town. The difference is that everything there is in English, as opposed to everything being in BM over here. So off we went to see clients, blablabla… The last client was this man named Balvinder. I’m pretty impressed with his achievements. He’s a Guinness Record holder, apparently, which he proudly displays it on his BMW 5 series number plate. You can look the record up here

That aside, he’s the big man of his company himself and he meets up with us the suppliers personally instead of handing the duty to merchandise/buying. He gave us advise on the importance of being cautious in designing similarities to official trademarks of other companies. Brilliant businessman, he is, most of the time running his own show and making sure everything is tiptop.

What I’m most impressed about him is that despite of his incredible success, he is proud and humble at the same time. He’s proud of what he has, but not boastful about it. Kind, too. He treated us to an indian dinner. Yes, indian food. Muthu’s Curry or something, in Little India. Me. Indian food. Spicy. Bleh. I guess the food was… good. But I still do not like spicy food! After that we thought of heading back to KL, but he looked disappointed cause apparently he made arrangements for us ^^;; so, what to do? The guys stayed at a nearby hotel and the girls stayed at his home. Check this out:

Nice! Hotel room?
room1

You wish! It’s ONLY the freakin’ guest room! With its own bathroom and balcony! In his awesome 4-storey terrace house!
room2

You think that’s great? Well, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. Wait til u see this!

Big deal. What’s with the leather chair? Wait, look closer. The emblem thingie…
chair

OMFG, VERSACE?!? You’ve GOT to be kidding me!!! XD XD XD
versace

Hahahaa not really laaa… Versace logo looks like this:
versace

But hey it looks similar, right?? Hmm now that I look at it, kinda DOES look like an actual Versace, I’m not so sure now :P Is it? Is it not? I really dunno lol. Well, whatever it is… Still super cool… Talk about fabulous XD But my fave thing in the whole house has got to be this big boy:

volka

The most handsomest dog I ever did see! I betcha Jo and Ika must be damn envious right now lol. Presenting Volka, the husky with the… err… *forgots the word* …different eye colours =P  Can you see? One is blue and the other is brown. Sweet! *huggles*

After a good night’s sleep, Balvinder took us for breakfast. Singaporean prawn mee is damn different from Malaysia’s… After breakfast, we said bye bye to Balvinder (and Volka ^^) and head for KL.

Stupid gloomy rainy journey…
dark sky

Reached back at the office around 3 or 4pm. Back to work~! >.<;;; *complains* constantly smoking companians in car makes my clothes stink…

Boohoo

Posted by Jules on September 8, 2008

I’m a crybaby. I have always been a crybaby ever since I can remember. “Ham bao” as you say it in Cantonese. I dunno, I guess I get a good feeling after crying? But don’t get me wrong, I’m no actress. I can’t just cry out of nothing for no good reason. I still need something to trigger my tears. Something to touch me at the right spot which will send the tears rolling.

I suppose that I do enjoy a good cry. Shedding tears is like expressing my frustrations and sadness. You know, like a stress-reliever. I cry alone, most of the time to sleep. And I usually feel better in the morning. I know, some people call this being “emo”. Then so be it, I always “emo” =P Sometimes I feel like I like to cry almost as much as I love to laugh. Actually, no I don’t, it’s more like a 1:5 ratio, but you know what I mean XD

*shrugs* What can I say? Everyone’s got their own way to vent out their inner feelings, and crying is mine.
