Here we go again

Posted by Jules on July 31, 2008

Here I am, sitting at the pc as usual. These 2 days of not working felt kind of like the weekend, but it’s not. It’s the last minutes of July and we enter August in a while. That means I’ll be starting my new job commencing tomorrow. It’ll be my 5th job in my entire work life, for goodness sake. When will I find the right one that I would nicely settle in without thoughts of switching yet again?

I’m a little nervous. I think I had gotten a little too comfortable at Xixili. It’s been over 2 years, after all. Now we start all over again. Getting new job scope in an entirely new job, meeting new people, going new places, learning new things, the works. Am I ready? I dunno, I’m actually not quite in the mood yet. Wish I had a longer break over the weekend and start on Monday. I really should’ve done some cleaning up in my room and my working desk, but I had so many errands to run in the morning and afternoon that I come home feeling hot and tired from the weather. So I got lazy and no chore was done.

Sigh look at this mess… What happened… Oh well, I better get to bed already. It’s a big day tomorrow. Sort of. I wonder if Dad’s gonna give me an angpau for luck again, like he always does on my first day of work lol.

Yippee~

Finally, after putting Buibui* on hold for a couple of months, I have made a few sales, including a couple of one-of-a-kind pieces. I may be pricing it too low for such a special limited masterpiece, but heck, Buibui is still too new to be marking up the price tags. Nevertheless, I’m happy that my stock is moving somewhere ^^

I wanna clear my printed designs cause I’m venturing into a different concept. Graphic prints used to be the main thing of the label. But now I want it to be the minimal thing cause I realised that I am not up to par with the hundreds of freelance/independent designers out there who are awesome in graphic ideas. That’s my weakness, so I should just sweep it under the carpet. My strength here is my handicraft skills. With graphics out of the picture, Buibui* products will be even more limited than before.

Goodbye, silk screen and rubber dyes… Hello, brushes and blingies~!

Back to the point… Anybody got any suggestion on how I can clear my existing stock? Mini warehouse sale in pasar malam? XD Help!

* Buibui Designs is my fashion label as my side business.

goodbye

Posted by Jules on July 30, 2008

It was my last day at Xixili today. Free! Haha… This will probably take some getting used to. After all, I’ve been there for 2 whole years and was settled a bit comfortably within the same colleagues in the department. Now I’m out yet again. Fitting into a new place to call my 2nd home.

Anyway, they treated me to a crab meal as my farewell dinner. Yummy~ Forgot to take photos of the crab dishes tho :P So full. There were 3kg of crabs split into 2 dishes for 10 of us. I had 5 claws lol. I prefer the salted egg crab more than the butter crab. Was never a fan for gravy food hehe. Now, a couple of pix:

Thanks girls, for a good meal.
Standing (L-R): Fanny, Estee, Suzanne, Carmen, ME!
Sitting (L-R): Choy Lee, Kim, Tasha, Min Lee, Mary.
Missing in pic: Candice, Veynise.

The burning question is… Will I miss the people from Xixili? Well, if you count in everybody from the entire company… Then let’s just say it this way.

I might not miss everyone, but I definitely will not forget anyone :)

ps: I think I might have another farewell thingie going on maybe next week, in collaboration with *someone*s suprise birthday hehe.

STUFF magazine 4th anniversary

Posted by Jules on July 27, 2008

Last Friday was Stuff Magazine’s 4th anniversary party happening at Republic, Sunway Pyramid (new wing). Jo invited me (to accompany her lol). Yay my first time clubbing with my girlfriend! Good location for an event, I should say. Cause it’s right at the outdoors area. We were early enough to get our goodie bags lol. We were late last week to OT Nite and missed it :P Guess who were the emcees for the night? Check these pictures out:

serenac The very lovely Serena C.

pietro And the oh-so-cuddly Pietro.

I know, I looked like I was photoshopped into the pictures, right? Lol.

The event got dull, especially when none of us got the lucky draw lol. Music was boring, crowd was boring. Jo and I were ready to scream out of boredom. So we moved the party to Cafe Flam. Not too great, but hey it was much better than Republic. All the dancing and crazy photo taking. Lots of laughs too with Kee Aun and girlfriend Kimberly, Alex again, also new friends like Kelvin, Michael, Dave, Eric, Angie.. errr, Jack/Jake/Zach (?), another Alex… Am I forgetting anyone? Sorry if I left you out!

It was a fun outing. Tho I think I had a little too much to drink. It’s been a long time and my tolerance for liqour dropped a notch. Good thing for the dancing, it helped to pump some blood to get it through my system lol. Thanks all for a fun time ^^ It was nice to dance off the stress.

OT night

Posted by Jules on July 22, 2008

Onitsuka Tiger Nite, that is. Jo’s company had an event going last Friday at Zouk and she invited me and Ika. It was actually a bit dull cause I guess it was too small a group. Like, just the 2 of us? Lol. Jo was too busy working the event, she didn’t have time to join us at all. Nothing much going on. Until much later, that is.

Some freaky chinese guy wanted to “buy” us beers and brought 2 bottles. So whatever, just put it there, I ain’t drinking it. If that wasn’t bad enough, he had to introduce his foreign friend who brought another 2 bottles of beer. Note that when I said “foreign”, I don’t mean “white” or “yellow”, nor did I even mean “black”. Its was a “brown” man! Like Indon, or Bangla, or what not. In any case, it was ridiculous cause this meant that the chinese guy was trying to help his friend get laid or something! Needless to elaborate, we said byebye and hurry back downstairs with our OWN drinks, leaving their (contaminated) bottles on the table.

Then it got fun. We found a table for ourselves (well it was reserved but nobody was there, so hey). A guy from the next table came to shake hands with us and guess what? Seems that he’s there cause of invitation to the event as well. His friend right there at the same table is a colleague of Jo’s haha. What a small world. So yeah, Alex is his name. Friendly dude, and I got to dance with a guy that night haha. T’was all good clean fun. Then Ika and I went to the mamak so that I could get a bit sober :P Had 3 beers and I was really hyper. I think I freaked Ika out a little hehe.

The next day we went to see The Dark Knight, which was really awesome! Heath Ledger did a great job on potraying The Joker. His plots are brilliantly wicked and his psychoness got us a bit squimish, like eep, but he also got us laughing too at his weirdness. There won’t be another Joker quite how Heath had done it >.<

After the movie, Calvin came by and Ika left. So we went to have a looksee at some wedding exhibition going on. We ended up sitting down listening to the wedding consultant/planner. And suddenly ended up… paying deposit for a wedding package when we don’t even have a wedding date set ^^;;; Free towel, free wedding teddies for the car decor… and a lucky draw. I got a trip to Shanghai, accomodation and food provided (giving it to my mom cause she’s been dreaming to visit China).

Anyway I thought it was a good package deal. Nothing confirmed yet, the deal’s extended to 3 years. So when the time comes, we’ll discuss further on how I want our album to be. But still… OMG ^^;;;

Happy anniversary

Posted by Jules on July 18, 2008

Happy Anniversary, sweetheart. Yup, it’s been 3 wonderful years of loving Calvin :) Our love is still growing and strong. It feels great to achieve this lol. For both of us, this is the only relationship we had throughout our entire love lives that lasted this long and still going strong. I truly believe that I really have found TheOne, and I trust that it’s the same for him too :)

Hmm but nothing happened today tho… In fact, i didn’t hear from him at all today :( he’s in Johore, working. He’s been so busy lately, all I can do is be patient and support him as much as I could. Though I wished I could at least see him for a simple dinner today… Or some sort of a gesture. Like a call, perhaps, a suprise? All I got was a wish from him in the wee hours, a few exchanges of love SMSes and that was it. Sigh.

No matter. We’ll just make up for it when I see him this weekend. Right? :)

luv  YES we’re very happy~!

Holiday Recap!

Posted by Jules on July 14, 2008

WooHoo, the PD trip was great! We stayed at Bayu Beach Resort in a sorta duplex apartment, which is a little too spacious, I think lol. Well, it faces the sea, so tis all good nonetheless.

I fetched Jo and Dennis at the Subang Jaya KTM station in the morning. Then we bought a few lil extras that we need at the supermarket while waiting for Calvin to be done at the car workshop. Had a quick lunch at Kluang Station.. Drove to Calvin’s house and transfered everything from my car to his, then we’re off! Yippee~~~

Didn’t take too long to find the resort. We checked in, unpacked some of the food and rested while waiting for HueyPeng and YungYi. Waited for the sun to go down a lil bit, then we’re out to play hehe. It was damn fun and crazy, took a lot of weird photos. These are my fave shots:

Quite nostalgic. Looking at a tiny shell like lil kids.

Lol, not too sure what they’re doing, but it’s hilarious!

But not quite as hilarious as…

1
Flying KATAK, crouching CICAK~!!!!!

Other than these crazy shots, we also took advantage of the beautiful seaside sunset and snapped some romantic shots. Behold:

Romance #1 : Dennis & Jocelyn

Romance #2 : Calvin & Julie

Romance #3 : YungYi & HueyPeng

Then it got too dark for photos, so we headed back to our apartment to shower and prepare our wonderful feast. Yummy yummy steamboat, it ended up great!

After a filling dinner, everybody’s craving for something sweet. I’m guessing it must be the seasoning of the soup. What next? We randomly just drove out for some ice cream lol. At that hour, at that kinda place… Where else but ol’ trusty 7-11! A funny thing happened while we were having our dessert at the corridor. I saw a cockroach crawling nearby Jo, she was standing and swaying a bit. Before I could open my mouth to warn her, the roach happened to crawl under her foot and…

Me: Ooh… you stepped on it.
Jo: Stepped on what? *lifts foot* EEEEEEKK~~!!!! (runs off)
*Laughter all around while I explained myself for not warning sooner*
Someone: Is it dead?
*YungYi nudged it with his foot, and the cockroach squirms a bit*
Jo&HueyPeng: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKK~!!!!

Such a funny moment XD I’m scared of roaches too, but not like this haha. BTW, we discovered something. Apparently, PD roaches aren’t the same as KL roaches. For one, PD roaches are flat and nothing happens when u squish it. But KL roaches are much fatter, and when you squish it, the insides bursts out. How strange lol. Just like Langkawi squirrels are chubbier with bushier tails compared to KL squirrels.

Back to the apartment. We snacked on junk food while watching a bit of TV, then off to bed. There was a thunderstorm and it was a bit scary. First time seeing a lightning storm out at sea. The initial plan was to wake up early to catch the sunrise. The alarm went off too early, so I asked Calvin what’s next. He meant to sleep until just at the wake of dawn, but I understood it as sleeping until the sun is UP. So I set the alarm an hour too late and it’s missed XD oops haha.

Breakfast buffet! The vouchers came with the room rental. After a hearty breakfast by the beach, we changed, slapped on some sunblock, and off to the beach again! It’s so nice to play like kids, Jo and I were laughing hysterically nonstop, claiming that seawater is a drug that makes you high. We scrubbed each others’ backs with the sand… “Spa” lah, konon. That’s what they do at the Dead Sea, but I doubt that PD beach works the same :P Then we got on a banana boat ride, YEAH!! That was sooo much fun.

Yup, so that was the end of the trip! But Calvin requests that I post about our Klang adventure from PD lol, so it’s not quite the end yet :P So after PD, we dropped by Seremban so that Calvin could do some site visits since we were there anyway. Then straight back to Klang to have dinner before sending Jo and Dennis home. Jo is like a bug without its antennas, several times that she insisted and confirmed that she knew the way, only to end up in wrong area or going the wrong way. In the end, apparently Calvin knows that area which supposedly has a much shorter way to go through, but Jo took a big way all around Klang before ending up at the right area lol. She paid for dinner XD

All in all, it was a good trip and we all really enjoyed it. It was warm to have a beach holiday with my true love… It was fun to go crazy with my closest peeps… It was also fun to have our own cozy steamboat in our apartment… An awesome holiday :)

But then again, I only have ONE complaint….

bite  *%$@#* FARKING SANDFLIES!!!!!!!

Yatta!!!

Posted by Jules on July 9, 2008

I did it! Haha! A perfect headstand!

Previously in yoga classes, I needed a pair of hands to assist and support me when I do the headstand against the wall, ’cause I had a hard time getting my legs up. But in today’s class, I did it all on my own! And I’m the ONLY one in the whole class who could do it XD The others were still walking up the wall. Dunno why, the instructor wanted me to do a full headstand. Ah well, it was so cool!

Too bad tho, next week will be my last yoga class. Hmm, since the new job starts at 10am, I’m thinking of still waking up at the same time to do a quick session of exercise. Yoga, or lifting weights at home. Or finally making use of that fitness ball. Sounds like a plan? Haha, but we’ll see if I can really work it out. Cause you know me, I love to sleep :P and sleeping in a little extra everyday seems good hehe.

nostalgic!

Posted by Jules on July 7, 2008

Had a lunch date with 2 of my best friends, Jo and Ika on Saturday at Sunway Pyramid. It’s so nice to be hanging out again, the 3 of us. Just like old times! We haven’t had outings like this since before Jo went to UK for studies. Then Ika moved to Shah Alam, and Jo’s family moved to Klang. I’ve almost forgotten how it feels like to hang out with 2 of my girlfriends. Chatting, joking, laughing… It was sooo much fun!

The most nostalgic moment for us must be the ez2dancer part lol. We, especially me and Ika, used to play dancing on ez2dancer back in our student days. Believe it or not, we used to go at least once a month and we spent RM30 each on the game! Yes, we were THAT crazy about it and hey, we rock too lol. But it’s been years since our last game, and it seems like all the good machines seem to be extinct. So when we found a machine in Sunway Pyramid, we were like, “ahhh those were the days”. Ika and I talked about playing a game for old time’s sake, but when we were there… I dunno about her but I felt a lot like chickening out haha.

Then Jo had to dare us to get on it just once. She was even willing to pay for it! So… Fine! Haha, when we stepped on the game, I’ve got wild butterflies in my stomach and I was ready to pee in my pants, and needing a smoke quite badly haha. Nervous as heck! We knew we were gonna suck bad! And we did suck :P But suprisingly, not THAT bad. We didn’t get our A’s like we always used to, but at least we managed to pass all 3 levels without failing right in the middle XD

Just because Jo made us get on it, Ika insisted that she get on it too. So Ika paid to get Jo on the game, and Jo paid to get me to accompany her haha. It was cool, despite how badly we played the game :P I bet we looked stupid haha. But hey… It was great fun, and it was a lovely rare quality time with my girls :)

Here’s the machine which is like so rare these days…
ez2d ignore the kid hehe…
