Numerology Life Path

Posted by Jules on August 15, 2010

My number is 5. And this is what it says about me, according to Astrology.com :

Extroverted, energetic, resourceful and adventurous, you are impatient and hungry for the taste of life! You’ll approach many forks along your path, and you’ll welcome each change as a new opportunity. Change is the name of the game for you, as is championing freedom. You are a born progressive — forward-thinking, liberal and super resourceful. You are also active, daring, non-conventional, unpredictable, and attracted by physical senses and indulgences. Pragmatic and opportunistic, you can be very persuasive. You will succeed in any career that calls for energizing power rather than routine.

I find it rather accurate, don’t you think so? :P

The Four Agreements

Posted by Jules on June 26, 2010

Iks sent the chicas an email with the link to an article to put us [quoting Iks] on the road to being happy. The article is a review on a book by Don Miguel Ruiz, “The Four Agreements”. Read on, this is my summarised version of the book based on Brian Johnson’s article:

You need a very strong will in order to adopt the Four Agreements—but if you can begin to live your life with these agreements, the transformation in your life will be amazing. You will see the drama of hell disappear right before your very eyes. Instead of living in a dream of hell, you will be creating a new dream—your personal dream of heaven.

The First Agreement: Be Impeccable with Your Word
The Second Agreement: Don’t Take Anything Personally
The Third Agreement: Don’t Make Assumptions
The Fourth Agreement: Always Do Your Best

Children are domesticated the same way that we domesticate a dog, a cat, or any other animal. In order to teach a dog we punish the dog and we give it rewards. We train our children whom we love so much the same way that we train any domesticated animal: with a system of punishment and reward. We are told, ‘You’re a good boy,’ or ‘You’re a good girl,’ when we do what Mom and Dad want us to do. When we don’t, we are a ‘bad girl’ or a ‘bad boy.’

> 1st Agreement: Be Impeccable with Your Word
The first agreement is the most important one and also the most difficult one to honor. It is so important that with just this first agreement you will be able to transcend to the level of existence I call heaven on earth. The first agreement is to be impeccable with your word. It sounds very simple, but it is very, very powerful.
Impeccability means ‘without sin.’ Impeccable comes from the Latin pecatus, which means ‘sin.’ The im in impeccable means ‘without,’ so impeccable means ‘without sin.’ Religions talk about sin and sinners, but let’s understand what it really means to sin. A sin is anything that you do which goes against yourself. Everything you feel or believe or say that goes against yourself is a sin. You go against yourself when you judge or blame yourself for anything. Being without sin is exactly the opposite. Being impeccable is not going against yourself. When you are impeccable, you take responsibility for your actions, but you do not judge or blame yourself.

> 2nd Agreement: Don’t Take Anything Personally
Whatever happens around you, don’t take it personally… if I see you on the street and say, ‘Hey, you are so stupid,’ without knowing you, it’s not about you; it’s about me. If you take it personally, then perhaps you believe you are stupid. Maybe you think to yourself, ‘How does he know? Is he clairvoyant, or can everybody see how stupid I am?’ Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of  themselves.

Extra note: Ervin Seale (see Notes on Take Off from Within) reminds us: “There is one recurring, persistent, perennial, and dogging personal problem which, more than any other, steals the force and peace of people and ruins projects and enterprises and careers. It is the habit of feeling hurt because of what others do or do not do and what they say or do not say.”

> 3rd Agreement: Don’t Make Assumptions
We have the tendency to make assumptions about everything. The problem with making assumptions is that we believe they are the truth. We could swear they are real. We make assumptions about what others are doing or thinking—we take it personally—then we blame them and react by sending emotional poison with our word. That is why when we make assumptions, we’re asking for problems. We make an assumption, we misunderstand, we take it personally, and we end up creating a whole big drama for nothing.
The way to keep yourself from making assumptions is to ask questions. Make sure the communication is clear. If you don’t understand, ask. Have the courage to ask questions until you are as clear as you can be.

> 4th Agreement: Always Do Your Best

There is just one more agreement, but it’s the one that allows the other three to become deeply ingrained habits. The fourth agreement is about the action of the first three: Always do your best.

Under any circumstance, always do your best, no more and no less. But keep in mind that your best is never going to be the same from one moment to the next. Everything is alive and changing all the time, so your best will sometimes be high quality, and other times it will not be as good.

Extra note: Tony Robbins has an awesome concept he calls “CANI!”—Constant and Never Ending Improvement. When we show up committed to doing our best and practice CANI!, we’re on an incredible upward trend where our best keeps on getting better.
Extra note: Marci Shimoff : “To make the quickest progress, you don’t have to take huge leaps. You just have to take baby steps—and keep on taking them. In Japan, they call this approach kaizen, which literally translates as ‘continual improvement.’ Using kaizen, great and lasting success is achieved through small, consistent steps. It turns out that slow and steady is the best way to overcome your resistance to change.

> Other Notes
The first step toward personal freedom is awareness. We need to be aware that we are not free in order to be free. We need to be aware of what the problem is in order to solve the problem.

Who stops us from being free? We blame the government, we blame the weather, we blame our parents, we blame religion, we blame God. Who really stops us from being free? We stop  ourselves.

There are many strong beliefs in the mind that can make this process look hopeless. This is why you need to go step-by-step and be patient with yourself because this is a slow process. The way you are living now is the result of many years of domestication. You cannot expect to break the domestication in one day.

All of these old agreements which rule our dream of life are the result of repeating them over and over again. Therefore, to adopt the Four Agreements, you need to put repetition into action.

Practicing the new agreements in your life is how your best becomes better. Repetition makes

the master.

Look it up, it’s just as good as The Secret :) No, The Secret is ultimate, but this is different in the sense that it’s not as hard to apply in life as The Secret. In any case, if you’re seeking for self-improvement and happiness, look up both!

This is Halloween

Posted by Jules on June 8, 2010

I know, too early for Halloween, but that’s not what I mean :P I’m obsessed with the soundtrack of ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ lately, especially the opening song “This is Halloween”. It’s so cool, check this out.

Imagine my ecstasy when I discovered that Marilyn Manson did a cover for that XD

I actually looked up the lyrics to this and chant it randomly through the day :P

“I am the one hiding under your bed; Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red”
“I am the one hiding under your stairs; Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair”
“I am the clown with the tear-away face; Here in a flash and gone without a trace”
“I am the ‘who’ when you call ‘who’s there’; I am the wind blowing through your hair”
“I am the shadow on the moon at night; Filling your dreams to the brim with fright”

I love the rhymes :P What an awesome! Animated! Musical!!! *screams* Tim Burton and Danny Elfman… Geniuses!!! x)

*sings* la la la la la la, kidnap the Sandy Claws, throw him in a box… XD Korn did a cover for that, by the way.

I wonder if anybody is a fan like I am about Nightmare Before Christmas :P

Happy Mama’s Day

Posted by Jules on May 9, 2010

It’s Mother’s Day today. I took the parents to Pavilion to watch Ip Man 2. During the final battle, I felt like I was right there in the scene and cheering for the integrity and dignity of the Chinese! Foreign scum making fun of our culture now, will he? :P Lol, Mom even clapped when Master Ip won the fight XD After that we walked back to Sungei Wang cause Dad parked the car there. Not that bad, the weather was quite nice today to walk outside. We had Kimgary… er… Late lunch aka early dinner. My treat, of course. Jalan-jalan a while then went home already. What a… mild normal Sunday.

You know, some people compared Iron Man 2 and Ip Man 2, since they released at the same time. Also they’re both big sequels to big movies, and also both titles sound similar lol. But how can you compare a Marvel comic movie with a true story kungfu flick?? It’s irrelevant to compare which movie is better. It’s like saying… Kebab is nicer than takoyaki. Irrelevant! If you ask me, they’re both awesome in their own categories.

Maybe frequent movie-goers nowadays expect too much. Koff*avatar*koff. I’ve heard reviews that Iron Man was bad because the Iron Man only showed up in the iron suit too few times. Hello, you expect to see Ironman in full on action for the whole 2 hours of the movie?? Give some story-telling time la, omg. Also heard reviews that Ip Man is so low budget. Abuthen? How much special effects to give a martial arts movie based on actual history? Really now…

On another note. Again, my hair has grown to the length where it’s time to chop it off. That’s how I roll :P Keep it long, then chop it short, then grow it out long again, and chop it short again, etc etc. The last short hairstyle was probably 3 years ago? Or 4? Don’t remember. This is how it looked like:

About time for another change. But how shall I do it this time, hmm… Might even go shorter, since I can carry better looks now that I have double eyelids :P haha, don’t know. Really bored with this long haired look already. I guess I’ll probably ask the stylist for a suggestion.

GSC Berjaya Times Square pissed me off

Posted by Jules on March 30, 2010

Was supposed to have a chica outing to watch Alice in Wonderland in 3D last Saturday, but Iks suddenly had to go outstation for work stuff, so she couldn’t make it at the last minute. Tickets were already paid for online, so we had to find someone to take up the extra seat. Of course this one person had to be a mutual friend that we’re both comfortable with. John had a wedding dinner to go to. Ron already saw the movie only the night before. We thought hard and long, and we came to this conclusion that apparently, we have no friends haha. Rays already watched it with me, so I’m sure that he wouldn’t wanna watch it again. So in the end, that person would be George. Yay, ok that’s done lol. Movie time! Or so we thought.

Got to Times Square about 40 minutes before showtime. Met up with George, and we went to the cinema. I queued to collect the tickets while they went to buy popcorn. As usual, I gave the confirmation number. The system said that the reservation expired. I was like, WHAT?! I paid for this! The guy checked again, and it’s the same thing. So he checked from my GSC account ID. Date unavailable pulak =.=”’ Gahhh I was starting to get really irritated. The guy then asked me what movie it was, and I told him. Then the next thing he said really got my blood boiling.

“Oh… Yang itu cancelled show”.

WHAAATT~??!?!?? You’ve got to be kidding me!!!

While waiting for the manager to arrive, something like this was what happened:

Me: Pesal cancel?? I dah booking e-payment tau!
Cashier: Pagi ni je cancel, ada notice kat website.
Jocey: You think we always go see the website??
Cashier: … *nervous laugh*
Me: So? Macam mana sekarang?
Cashier: Kita akan refund balik lah.
Me: Tak boleh ke ganti balik ticket tu??
Cashier: Ya, macam ni. Kita refund balik, pastu miss boleh beli lagi.
Me: *Gestured at the crowd* You nak I beratur lagi macam tu???
George: *Holds up popcorn* Ini boleh refund?? (lol true also. I ain’t about to eat popcorn without a movie)
Me: I don’t want refund, you give me a movie NOW.

Eventually the manager showed up.

Me: Pesal cancel pulak, takde notice ke apa-apa??
Manager: Last minute ada schedule problem.
Me: That is not my concern, I want to watch my movie, replace it now.
Manager: Next show at 11.30.
Me: …This is bullshit, don’t waste my time, I came for 7.30!

So that’s roughly how it was. In the end, we had no choice but to switch to How To Train Your Dragon in 3D instead. Some more initially arranged us on row C which is 3rd from the back! Right away I pointed to the empty seats at row F, which is more to the middle.

“Ok, so you want to change your seats to F, ya?”

ABUTHEN??! Losing my patience with these senseless idiots already…

So I got our tickets. They thought that was it. Pfft, no no no…

Jocey: That’s all? No compensation?

I was tired of scolding them already, so George waited there and fought for a pair of free open tickets lol. Which are valid for a few days only =.=”’ It might just go to waste, but never mind. At least feel syok a bit that we demanded for our consumer rights lol.

Initially I was still upset because I felt that Dragon wouldn’t be worth watching on 3D, given the trailer that makes the movie seem so kiddy. But oooooh I was so so wrong XD It was a really good movie, we loved it. I suppose most people underestimated how good it would be haha. The trailer and posters really doesn’t do it any justice, please go watch it!

I want a pet dragon. I can has dragon as pet, yes? No? Awww they don’t exist :(

Flick review

Posted by Jules on March 15, 2010

So it’s been a week since my last update. And incidentally my last update was the curious one in pinyin. Thanks for those who were concerned and tried to decipher. I know, cantonese pinyin is hard to read lol. Even I had trouble trying to understand what I had typed. It took a while to finish that post hehe. Love you all for caring! No worries, everything is better now :)

Well, me and Darling went to watch Tim Burton’s take on Alice in Wonderland last weekend. Since watching the trailer months ago, I’ve been excited to watch it cause it seemed really fantastic. Plus, I’ve heard many reviews on how great it is, and how worth it it is to catch it in 3D. So I had such high expectations of being totally blown away. But I was a little disappointed… Not to say that it’s bad, no. After all, it’s Tim Burton! Visually, it’s great. But overall… meh? And the 3D part wasn’t as 3rd dimensional as I had expected it haha. The chesire cat did not “POP OUT” of the screen thaaaaat much. Ok I shouldn’t spoil it anymore for you people who have yet to catch it :P But my review? It’s good! But hardly ever mind blowing excellence.

I suppose it’s because I’m already familiar with the characters of Wonderland, that there were hardly any suprises. Like, where’s the Chesire Cat? Oh there he is! Hehe, cool! Instead of, wow what the heck that! Omg that’s awesome! Lol… I know, it’s a whole new story that Alice returns to Wonderland 13 years later. But still, you know… same place, same characters lol. You know what’s mind blowing? Avatar. They did the right thing by keeping it so mysterious right until the release at the cinemas. Month prior to that, there was just posters of a blue face that says “AVATAR”. Nothing much on trailers as well. There was hardly any clue what it’s all about. Plus everything was freshly made up! So when we went to watch it, WHOA! Now THAT is awesome!

ZOMG is that me??

Posted by Jules on December 12, 2009

Browsing through my old photos… Lol, oh my gods, I was kinda chubby eh! I think I’m better looking as an adult than when I was a teenager hahaha. Crap XD Ok, only because I’m so confident that I look good now, here’s a few peeks at how I used to look. Just for fun (and laughs)!

Early 2004, age 20 (Puffy faced redhead)

Mid 2004, age 20 (What kinda hair is that??)

Late 2005, age 21 (Something made me look older than 21…)

Late 2006, age 22 (Still kinda baby-faced)

Mid 2007, age 23 (I thought the hair was nice at the time)

Late 2007, age 23 (Oh hey, my face seemed sharper already)

Mid 2008, age 24 (No comment lol)

Mid 2009, age 25 (Note the eyes lol)

Late 2009, age 25 (This is me now)

Funny, isn’t it? Maturity can change the way a person looks. That’s just within 5 years! I thought I looked fine back then, but now looking back, I don’t think so! You do not want to know how I looked like in my skinny adolescense and chubby teenage years :P But it’s ok, as long as I like myself now hehe. Somehow I lost that baby fat, and I erm, grew gracefully :P Wouldn’t you agree? Look again below, age 20 and age 25:

===>>>

Ps, so I noticed that I’ve always had my left eye a little bigger than the right. Before or after surgery :P

RIP Michael Jackson

Posted by Jules on June 26, 2009

Was still snoozing in bed early this morning before getting up for work when I received an SMS from my colleague, Choong. I was thinking sleepily, what does he want so early in the morning when I’m just gonna see him in about 2 hours anyway? I read the SMS and I thought I was dreaming when he told me, “Michael Jackson confirmed dead!!!”. OMG!! WHAT??! I quickly switched on the radio, and “Thriller” was playing on Hitz.fm… Damn, it must be true :S

How devastating!!! Never mind the Wacko Jacko that he became, I don’t care much for such gossip anyway… but when it comes to music, the King of Pop was definitely without a doubt, the BOMB! I literally grew up listening to his songs and watching his awesome dance moves in his amazing videos. It just felt a little surreal that he suddenly just died when he was about to go on his comeback tour. To celebrate his life, Hitz and Mix have been playing MJ songs back-to-back all day long, and I’ve been listening lol. A little overdosed on Bad, Billie Jean, Beat It, Black or White, Smooth Criminal, and Thriller… but I’m happy to be listening to the other songs that I have forgotten about, like Ben, Human Nature, They Don’t Really Care About Us, and the Earth Song, just to name a few. Also common favorites like You Are Not Alone, Man In The Mirror… And how about ABC, I’ll Be There, Rock With YouPretty Young Thing, Leave Me Alone, Remember The Time, Heal The World, Stranger In Moscow… and many more… SIIIGH~!!!

There will never be another performer who will make quite an impact as MJ. The number of trademark styles he created, can never be topped! Crotch-grabbing, moonwalking, toe-stand… Sequined glove, fedora hat, gold suit… Yee-hee, ooow, hic, “sha’mou”…

Everyone was feeling so distraught about the bad news. And after an overdose on MJ songs for the whole day, by evening I was a little ‘cuckoo’ already lol. What more when I was bored at work on a Friday evening. And so… Jules made a(n inappropriate) joke and posted it on Facebook status:

*MJ’s new song… “coz i’m deaad, i’m deaaad, u know it “… ok ok bad joke, he’s gonna so haunt me tonight in my dreams… looking like a ‘thriller ‘ zombie… and singing “yooou are nooot aloooone “… then i can tell him to “beat iiiiit !!”

It’s an evil joke, but give some credit la, it IS quite funny, right? :P Just to lighten up the mourning mood. RIP, Michael Jackson. I, for one, will remember you fondly @–8—

I’m back!

Posted by Jules on June 1, 2009

Touched down back to KL after being away in Hong Kong and China for a week. It’s good to be home! Overall it was a good trip. But because it was a work trip, I did not get to play as much as I want to. That means no Ocean Park, no Disneyland… No wantan mee, no egg tart… Just lots of sitting in office, walking here and there, watching and learning… Yup, it was a reeeeally eventful week. I appreciate this chance that my boss has given me, thank you! Though my biggest concern is that after spending a whole week with boss, I come back talking like him *swt*…

So the first thing I did when I got back to KL was hanging out with my besties! Or shall I call it, the gathering of the awesome chicahood XD We met up at Vivo, The Curve. Jocey and I had late dinner, Iks had supper lol. After dinner, what else? Starbucks! We chatted the night away but yet it still wasn’t enough. It was so nice ^^ Jo and I continued cause she was staying over at my place for the night.

My next few blog entries will be on the trip, day by day. It will take some time before I complete all 8 days, so please be patient ya hehe.
