CNY in a nutshell

Posted by Jules on February 26, 2010

CNY is all about food, angpau, gambling, drinking, visiting, etc etc. So for sure I did all of the above. Sorta. Not much on the gambling part, but meh. Usually every year, I would gamble on blackjack, but not this year. Not sure why :/ No dealer? Lol. Darling bought a mini set of cards which is damn cute. But freaking difficult to shuffle the deck though!

First day! Visited grandparents’ home in Old Town PJ as usual. I think I mentioned before that the highlight of the day was Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom with Darling. It’s freaking far, but I think I don’t mind going there again hehe. Why not? Apparently they have different themes for the lantern decorations each year, so it won’t be a boring thing to go to :D

On the 2nd day of CNY, we were at 2nd aunt’s house to lepak, but got bored too quickly lol. So the siblings and I scooted to Pavillion supposedly to meet a cousin and watch a movie, but the queue was too long. So we ended up spending a couple of hours at Starbucks and an hour or two window shopping. Maxed out our time and went back to aunt’s house for dinner. That night, we went out to have a drink cause again, too bored in the house already. Ended up at Station One, and ordered a bucket of beer. I finally learned how to play bluff with dice :P Though I’m still not very good… I called wrongly a couple of times lol.

3rd day, left for Kuantan already. Details are on the blog post just before this one, so I’m not gonna type it twice lol.

Came back to KL on the 5th day. About time too, was getting too bored in Kuantan. Went to Petaling Street with Darling and his cousin. Just for kicks. I had my favorite taufufah hehe. Damn hot day though. As though I wasn’t dehydrated enough X_x Then went to Sungei Wang cause they wanted to try the new toilet concept restaurant there. Ew. It’s quite disturbing to have a meal sitting on a toilet bowl. Seriously, I mean look, this is the table setting!

If you wanna eat here for the heck of it, just to try out the “ambience”, then go ahead. But I’m warning you, the food sucks. Among 3 of us, there were noodles, rice, porridge, and soup (served in toilet bowl and bathtub shaped bowls). All were no good >.< What, do you expect good food in the toilet? Haha. Ok that was gross :P

I bet everyone was waiting for the 6th day hehe. I spent half the day with Darling, then I had to go home in time for dinner. Most of the relatives came over to our house. My godma aka 4th aunt brought yee sang from the hotel chinese restaurant where she works. First class quality yee sang with heaps of salmon sashimi. Ooooooh this is what I look forward to the most every year lol.

After having this big appetizer, we all went out for chinese dinner. Sis and I were out again as soon as we got home. Yes you guessed it, boredom lol. She wanted a ratless place, so that means no mamak? Decided on Coffeebean in the end, just cause there were no Starbucks open nearby. Made the mistake of being adventurous by ordering something I haven’t tried and there was a possibility that I didn’t like it. True enough. I couldn’t take another sip of Sunrise. I like orange juice as it is, but not when it’s mixed with vanilla powder >.< Yuck. So I asked to change my drink to a completely different one without charge haha. Mango frut-tea, yum…

7th day, woot! I had plans with the chicas and a chico (John haha). They visited my home first in the late morning. Then went to have a light lunch at OldTown before we head to visit Jocey’s home. After that we went to Sunway Pyramid to have dinner. Already pre-decided for Sakae Sushi because they have cheap yee sang that Iks can try for the first time. It wasn’t exactly the actual yee sang, but heh. Close enough. Next year we plan to go to Madam Kwan’s instead so that she can try REAL yee sang haha.

8th day, oh nooo last day of holiday! Went to watch 72 Tenants of Prosperity with the family. Yeah, 2nd time for me, but it was still funny haha. After that, went to 2nd aunt’s house again to have dinner, because 5th aunt was around. They had thoughts to stay for ‘bai tien gong’ (prayers to the Jade Emperor, aka Hokkien’s CNY). But I had work the next day. Plus, I was getting too sickly already after ignoring it for a few days lol. Had to get home, pop some pills, and sleep.

9th day, Monday, back to work, wheeee =_= Nothing to say lol.

10th day, the family came to pick me up from the office for lunch hour. I was in sort of a grim mood, because that was the last time that I saw my siblings until… a long time! And it was also the last time I saw mom til another 6 weeks. I thought I wouldn’t cry if I didn’t go send them off at the airport, but I was wrong. As I was hugging them goodbye, I couldn’t have walked away any sooner. Tears were welling up in my eyes >.< I guess I’m kinda used to Sis being away all the time, and I’m getting used to the idea that Bro is away too. But I’m totally not used to Mom not being here with me! Mommyyyyy…!! T_T

It’s the 12th day today, CNY celebrations will be officially over soon. Hope everyone had a good start to the Tiger year, rawr~!

Tadaima!

Posted by Jules on February 26, 2010

I’m back after a week-long hiatus! The CNY break has been great, I dreaded going back to work after fooling around doing nothing productive for 10 days straight haha. I have so much to tell that I can’t recall all of it at the moment :P One at a time then!

I last blogged about standing by to leave for Kuantan on a family trip. It was good, overall. But I have to say. There really is nothing much to do at all in Kuantan other than the beaches. This was my 2nd time to Kuantan, and I must say I kinda missed Telok Chempedak. Not so anything else, cause there was nothing! Haha. See how nice it is, beats PD anytime!

We had seafood dinner at the same place on both nights because we really don’t know where else to go :P Juicy prawns, lobster, crab at Pak Su Seafood Restaurant. We tried to get some karipap at Taman Gelora, but we were there too early and the stall was just setting up. The downside of being with parents is that they’ll give up waiting and leave right away without another thought lol. If I were with friends, I bet we’re just gonna lepak by the beach while waiting for the karipap. Oh well.

Sunbathed for a couple of hours with Sis. Initially just wanted to accompany her, and lie down under a shade while she tanned. But there were no unoccupied umbrella by the poolside, so I thought what the heck. Tan then tan lah. Slapped on my SPF120 sunblock lol. Gosh, I sure tan as quickly as it fades… Talk about feeling dehydrated though!

Oh it was supposedly monsoon season on the east coast, so the red flag was up all the time that we were there. I just took walks along the beach with my feet in the water. The wind was crazy, and so were the waves. I was too chicken to go any deeper than ankle-depth, but my siblings were braver lol. So they dumped their phones and camera to me and went to play the waves. Imagine! My feet were only ankle-deep, but the waves were strong enough that when they hit the shore a couple of metres away from me, the water rushed in til the water rose up to my knees! And I felt the undertow under my feet as the sand shifted and buried my toes. Fuiyoh…

Good to be back in KL though. Back to the hustle and bustle? Lol. I have a theory to why KL is so congested compared to the other states. Ever notice how much less crowded it becomes during festive seasons when people travel outstation back to their hometowns? THAT’s how KL is supposed to be! Those that don’t have hometowns to travel outstation to are the REAL locals of KL. So, it’s yooooou people who move here from the other states are the reason why it’s so congested! Haha XD Makes sense, yes? :P No offense to y’all ya, I’m just saying hehe. Technically, my father is one of them, so… XP

Melbourne: Day 14 (last day!)

Posted by Jules on October 24, 2009

Monday, 31 Aug 09. Merdeka!!! Lol, for the first time in all my life, I feel the least patriotic. All because I wasn’t even in the country, so I don’t feel ANYthing for the national day. Oh well.

So! Nothing much on this day, since we’ll be flying off that night, home-bound! Awhhh already? 2 weeks sure passed by quickly when you’re having fun! So first things first. Pack up my luggage and make sure that I didn’t leave anything behind (BoyEe was sniffing and kepoh-ing around, making sure that I didn’t take away any of his toys lol). Had a simple lunch at home, cooked with whatever’s left in the fridge and pantry. I was once again mom’s kitchen assistant because Sis doesn’t seem to like to cook very much, and Bro was busy with studies. Anyway, I fried the luncheon meat and the eggs. Mom just prepared the salted chicken lol.

Luncheon meat, fried egg, leftover steamed chicken (now salted).

After that, didn’t do much the whole day. Didn’t even go out lol. So I spent my time by uploading photos of the trip to Facebook. Only managed to upload up to day 3, then connection failed =_= Ok now I’m bored lol. So I just spent the time looking through all the photos and watching all the videos that I’ve taken. Oh, how did I manage to take so many photos and videos on my 2gb memory card, you ask? I didn’t! I uploaded photos to Bro’s laptop and cleared the memory card every 3 days lol! I brought everything home by burning some into DVD, and some into my thumbdrives. Almost 6gb worth XD Yeah, anyway…

Really wished I could get online, cause it was a holiday back home. So Darling should be free to be able to chat with me. I kept on trying to reconnect, but still can’t. Sigh! Ah well. Nothing to do, might as well grab a snack:
I’m gonna sooooo miss these big juicy ‘Pink Lady’ apples.

Mom cooked dinner that night. Sis and Bro wanted the last home-cooked meal from Mommy dearest before we head home lol. Just a simple meal. Braised chicken with mushroom and peanuts, my fave!

I love chicken, I love mushrooms, I love peanuts. Yum!

And we must have our greens!

Oh, Ben Gor da bao’ed an extra roasted chicken from the supermarket, in case we don’t have enough to eat :P This is good too!

After dinner, final packing up and we’re off to the airport already! Final goodbyes to the kids. Ah Yee is gonna miss you both soooooo much:

 Hug&Kisses

Ok off we go. Yippee! I’m so glad for this trip, but I gotta admit. I can’t wait to get back to home sweet home where it’s hot and humid. The cold and dry winter is seriously irritating the sanity out of me. My poor skin! So yeah, I was a little excited to get back home where everything is familiar again. And omg, I have not driven a car in 2 whole weeks! Home! Let’s go!

My excitement died down after a while, when we’re about to go through the customs area towards the boarding gate. That’s where my parents and I would have to part with my siblings again, until the next time either of us travelled. Oh gosh, I never expected it, but I was on a verge of tears when I hugged them goodbye. My Bro so bad, he was like, “Woi, again??”. I just simply replied, “Shut up”. Lol :P I guess… No matter how we tend to get into disagreements now and then, we still hate the fact that the 3 siblings will never get to be together unless someone travels thousands of miles. Sigh, and the banging headache didn’t help too.

This was definitely a hard flight. The day flight was better because at least I could spend a couple of hours watching the beautiful sky and clouds. But this flight was during the night, and there was nothing to see as it was waaay too dark outside. I couldn’t sleep well either, my back was aching, my neck was aching, my ass was numb, and so were my legs. Sleepy as heck but I couldn’t get comfortable. And it was too cold on board too, I was shivering! Gahhh torture!

After a gruelling 8-hours… We finally finally arrived! Touched down to KL at 7am, 1st Sept. Lovely weather, a little warm with some wind. I’m just glad to be home where the wind isn’t piercing cold lol. Gave a morning call to Darling, hearing each others’ voices for the first time in 2 weeks ^^

 Goooood morning, KL. We’re back!

Got back home, what was the first thing I did? Check the fishies! I left Zeus and Ares for 2 weeks unfed. Omg wouldn’t you believe it… They’re ok! :D *Feeds* Buka puasa, darlings ^^ Lol.

Oh after that, I totally skipped lunch and went straight to my comfortable cozy bed! Cannot tahan already… Zzz…

Melbourne: Day 13

Posted by Jules on October 17, 2009

Sunday, 30 Aug 09. Oh man, such a cold morning. Kinda windy too. So I figured the 3 layers that I’m wearing to go out that day probably isn’t enough. Ah well… Out to St Kilda!

Lots of these bumblebee trams at St Kilda, somehow.

First things first, food! A few cafes over there along the street. So we just simply chose one and had sort of a late breakfast there. Wrong choice, the food here sucks! I had a very normal ham and cheese sandwich, and a terribly sweet, sorry excuse for chocolate cake. Yech.
 Tak sedap pun… Biasa je.

Oh yeah, btw. Encountered a stupid waitress there too. It goes something like this:

Dad: I’ll have a sandwich with salami and lettuce.
Girl: Do you want it toasted?
Dad: Yes please.
Girl: But how can it even be toasted, the lettuce will burn.
Everyone: ……….?!
(At this moment, in my head I was yelling, then why the hell did you even ask in the first place??? Sis probably had the same thought too)
Dad: You don’t toast the bread separately?
Girl: No we toast the whole sandwich in the toaster.
Dad: So it can’t be toasted if I want lettuce in my sandwich?
Girl: But the lettuce will burn.
Me: …. (My thought: You’ve got to be kidding me)
Ben Gor: Why don’t you just toast it without the lettuce, THEN you put in the lettuce?
Girl: ….. I’ll try.
Bro: =_=”’
Mom&Dad: ???!
Me&Sis: …!!! *silent scream*

What the hell is there to “try”?? Isn’t that the logical way to get it done? Duhhh… Nothing tastes good in this place, plus we had to face that bimbo of a waitress (looks like a student from India). The look of Sis’s face shows exactly what we think of this place:
 ”I’m not happy”

Forget that, at least our stomachs are filled. Now let’s go and enjoy the day! Walking walking… Oooh look what I spotted:
 Ahaks XD

Walked along the artsy stalls selling all sorts of crafts along the sidewalk of St Kilda.

Oh look, there’s Sis and Ben Gor! I feel like papparazi lol.

Then I noticed the back view, in the distance. Omigosh, the sea is actually not that far away lol! Let’s go, let’s go! Woohoo, St Kilda Pier!

The view was magnificent! The sun glistening on the surface of the sea, fluffy clouds, lots of parasurfers out there. Needless to say, I took a whole lot of photos of the lovely scene. Just showing off a few here on the blog. Check out my Facebook album of day 13 for more.

Oh well… ALMOST could make these 2 shots join as 1 lol. Close enough :P That’s Sis and boyfriend in the photo on the right!

Flyaway shawl, wheeee! My face looks so excited here lol.

We spent quite some time along the pier. Just enjoying the super strong wind, and the beautiful view. Some people may find just standing on the pier doing nothing is boring. But heck, I love the sea. I have a slight fear of being IN it, but from where it’s dry and safe, I absolutely love it lol.

Then off we go to Luna Park! It’s a really small amusement park, where we can just go in and browse around for free. The tiny amusement park with the freakiest entrance:

The price to go on the rides are really expensive though. After checking out what they have there, we decided not to go on any rides, cause they suck lol. Seriously, even Sunway Lagoon is better. I mean, you see lah:
Exactly like Genting’s Flying Dragon, me thinks.

Sunway’s Sky Flyer is taller than this one.

That’s it?! We literally LOL’ed at the ketot-ness of this pathetic thing XD

Forget it lol. We got bored of this place much quicker than when we were out on the pier. So we went home to rest and warm up a little after being out in the wind for most of the day. I snacked on a big juicy apple and went online a bit. Soon, we all started to get hungry, cause neither of us had a proper meal yet that day, other than the sucky sandwiches and cakes. Out to Box Hill for yet another chinese dinner at Lantern Garden Restaurant. Just a simple meal, but with crabs ^^ Yums, crabs…

  Sorry ar, too hungry lol.

 Yummy!

 Mixed vege…

 Veges…

 Fired pork ribs…

And sweet dessert, on the house!

What a meal! I kinda love the crabs with the ginger and spring onion gravy with noodle. I wonder if they have that style of cooking crabs here? Then back home and went online as usual. Poor darling was having a headache at the time :(

Melbourne: Day 12

Posted by Jules on October 10, 2009

Saturday, 29 Aug 09. Breakfast at home of yummy ham on toasted buttered baguette. I tells ya, I have big breakfasts so often during the whole trip, it’ll be a miracle if I didn’t put on any weight lol. Then we got ready and went out to jalan-jalan around Chapel Street. Sis parked at Jam Factory. Yup that’s the name of the complex. Cute eh? :P

Awesome tile collage on the pillar!

Pancake Parlour, so cool! I mean, Lovely! XD

 Outside of Jam Factory.

We all agreed to skip lunch in preparation of the big dinner. Woot, the big meal that I’ve been looking forward to for months! You’ll see, at the end of this post hehe. We just window shopped around, nothing much.

Btw, we see the words ”yum cha” a lot in Aussie. But it’s not the KL type of yum cha with the kopi, milo, teh ais, etc… Rather the HK type of yum cha, with dimsum and all. I have to say that Melbourne is quite multicultural too hehe.

The stuff on this street is kinda pricey eh O.o After a few hours of walking up and down the street, the shops were closing already (yeah heck, they close at 5pm over there!). So we went home for a while, cause it was a little too early for dinner. Rested our tired feet before we’re out again into the cold!

Off we go to Koo Yoong for Limor’s! The place was so crowded! Had a little problem because we had to wait for a table even though we already reserved one. But we MUST have this meal before we head back home in a couple of days. So… we waited! Check out the place, quite nice eh?

We don’t quite know exactly what cuisine this is. We couldn’t tell from the menu either. Some sort of fusion between Portuguese and Middle Eastern? No freaking clue. But who cares, as long as it tastes great :D The portions are HUGE, yo! We ordered the platter plus some sides. Woooyeah, the meal that I’ve been waiting for… Check this out, and please control your drool lol:

 Salad (boooring!)

 Sis’s must-have… Chips!

The platter! Ribs, wings, sausages, breaded chicken fillet ^^

 Calamari and more wings!

I don’t usually eat lamb, cause I don’t fancy red meat. But I gotta admit, the ribs were gooooood! I’m guessing the special barbecue sauce was sweet enough to cover the lamb-y taste. And I looove the chicken wings, yumz!! I had the whole meal using my fingers haha. There’s just something about gnawing and sucking the meat of the bones using the fingers that makes the entire meal a little more… satisfactory lol.
 <– wings & ribs –>

Phew, we were all really really stuffed after this big big meal…

 The aftermath!

Aaand this was my plate! I had 3 of the ribs, 4 chicken wings, and a cut off the breaded chicken:

Ahhh… Happy ^^ Relaxed a little, enjoying the music playing. Some of the locals even got up and danced even though the place was sooo sempit lol. They sure know how to enjoy themselves without giving a damn for ‘face’, unlike the locals here. “Malu! Save face” kaaaan? :P I entertained my family by impersonating to the songs playing, with the likes of YMCA, Grease and MJ lol XD I bet I looked ridiculous.

Time to go! It was a rainy evening, so the night was f-f-freeeeezing! Not really windy, just reeeally cold lol. The big meal was not quite enough to keep us warm :P Shivering all the way while jogging to the car. Got back home, everyone went to bed but I was online with Darling again. We were playing MSN games til 2am. I win, wheeee~ ^^

Melbourne: Day 11

Posted by Jules on October 7, 2009

Friday, 28 Aug 09. Woke up a little early on this day. Had breakfast at home before heading out and meeting up with Bro after his class/exam. We took a little tour around Victoria Market. It’s like a pasar, but much cleaner and organised lol.
 From outside.

 In the market…

 Oil painter.

Oooh, I bought these cuties on clearance sale as souveniers for my loves :D

After that we drove out to Lygon Street for an italian lunch as Mercadante. The waiter was serving us the plates, then he flung one at me. I was so freaked by the flying china plate coming my way and I went speechless and just ducked a little, like eep! Turned out… Sheez! It was just a plastic plate. Very funny =_= Apparently that’s how they roll here, playing little pranks on customers. Jahat! XD My siblings know this too, cause they’ve been here before. Purposely kept quiet about it so that they could watch us freak out. Jahat!! Lol. Found out that the waiter’s name is Karlos. Asked him to take a photo of all of us, and look what he did:

 Idiot XD

So funny, he acted silly and got the camera facing the wrong way intentionally. Then he took a few bad photos of either Dad or Sis missing from the photo before he finally took this nice shot. Gracias, Karlos!:

 Mi familia!

Alrighty now, let’s move on to the foooood! We shared 2 pastas and 1 pizza. Let’s let the photos do the talking, shall we?

 Alfredo…

 Al Salmone…

 Quattro… Something… Pizza :P

After that good meal, we took a long walk up and down Lygon Street. The feel is kind of European, Italian mainly. Lots of italian cafes and restaurants here. A few greek places too. Eventually we arrived at the Royal Exhibition Building, the place where Bro takes his uni exams.

Love it, love it. The big big garden and lawn and trees. Took lots of photos, cause you know the camwhore loves nature lol. Despite being winter, it’s still pretty much green, although most of the trees are leafless ^^

 Bwee~!

 Bro seems ecstatic too XD

Ooh we saw a weird rodent up in the tree. Something that we hadn’t seen before. What do you think it is? A friend guessed possum, but I have no idea XD

Ok, it’s cold being outdoors for so long. So we walked to Chinatown (again lol) and had some tea before dinner. This was an… interesting dinner, but a damn scary one that I did not really enjoy! Sichuan dinner, god help me, cause you know Jules does not do spicy food. Not at all! Sichuan cuisine is mostly super spicy, everything! It HAS to be the scariest menu that I’ve ever seen. I mean, look at this:

Like, what the HELL am I supposed to eat??? Sis joked, white rice with soya sauce. So bad ^^;;; I ordered one extra non-spicy dish just for myself. My favorite lotus root hehe:

Ok la, to give face that I’ve actually tried Sichuan food, I had 3 tiny pieces of the fried chicken in lots of dried chillis. OMG I almost dieded la, friend. Me likey fried chicken, but I do NOT like the burning sensation on my lips, mouth and throat. *Chokes*
 Pedih…

After that, sent the parents back home to rest. Then me and the siblings plus Ben Gor went to play pool. Not a great session. They were playing MJ videos on TV, and that was very distracting XD Went back soon after, and was on a late MSN session with Darling from 1am until about 3am. Aussie time :P

Posted by Jules on September 23, 2009

First of all… My spawn died. All of them. So upset! 100% death rate on my very first spawn :( And it had to happen when I was away on a trip. Gahhh what happened that made them die overnight??? Strange too, that not all the dead bodies were there. I’m sure there were more than 100 babies, but the corpses? Barely even 50. Why why why??? Sigh… Nevermind, I’m preparing to get the female heavily pregnant again for another spawning try.

Anyway, was on a trip to PD’s Tiara Beach Resort with Darling over the weekend for the Raya holiday. It was alright, the place was not as great as we thought it would be. Kena tipu by the pictures on the website la :P The waterpark seemed to be big, but in fact it is really quite small only. Check out our blog for the longer story lah, lazy to type again :P http://raysandjules.wordpress.com (ask me for password).

Melbourne: Day 10

Posted by Jules on September 23, 2009

Thursday, 27 Aug 09. Had sort of a big breakfast on this day. Mom prepared for me hehe. Honey cooked ham and fried egg on a big toasted sesame bun, yummy~

Then off we go to Box Hill, the market. There’s a sweet shop there which sells really cheap candy, cause the stuff are either very close to the best before date, or already passed the date lol. $1 for a Lindt bar! So cheap! The catch is that the best before date was due 2 months ago lol. We bought one anyway, it was still in quite good condition, and NO we did not get sick haha. I got sweets for my Darling, besties, and colleagues here too. Parents bought a huge bag of a dozen boxes of macadamia nuts to give out to random people (like our neighbours for helping watch the house and cars).

After we were done in Box Hill, we got to the car and moved on to Westfield Mall for lunch. Initially, we were supposed to have chinese lunch here:

But we got there a little late and the lunch hour was over already. They only have yumcha dimsum to serve, but we didn’t want that, so Sis decided to move to the food court area downstairs. “Food court” indeed, it was nothing like the food courts in KL, not even like KLCC’s Picnic. The food they have are actual franchises of eateries! Like Grill’d! I was still full from the breakfast, so all I had for “lunch” was this:
 Gelato!

Yup, ice cream lol. 3 yummylicious scoops of chocolate, hazelnut, and cookies.

Window shopped a bit with mom before we left for home. We followed Sis to walk the dogs around the neighbourhood before settling back at home, where I became the kitchen assistant to Chef Mommy lol.

 Kailan, sweet’n’spicy pork, fried chicken…

And my favorite…
Braised mushrooms and peanuts and chicken feet!

Ok so I don’t eat chicken feet, but I looove mushrooms and peanuts ^^

After dinner, was online with him as usual. On this night, I shed a few tears because I was seriously missing him a whole damn lot! Was already counting down the days til I see him again…

Melbourne: Day 9

Posted by Jules on September 18, 2009

Wednesday, 26 Aug 09. Had trouble waking up on this morning due to continuous dreaming that wouldn’t end. I guess I missed Darling that much, sigh. Was feeling a little worried about his health and I prayed that he’s doing alright. Seemed to be quite a cold day, so I wore extra layers because we were supposed to be outdoors most of the day. For the top, I had a long spaghetti top, then a long sleeved t-shirt, then a vest, and then my jacket and shawl. For the bottom, full pantyhose, knee-length socks, then my pants. But guess what? It wasn’t quite enough haha. Ah well…

Picked up Bro from uni, then we went to….

Yeah! We went to the Melbourne Zoo haha! Exciting, yippee! Visit the zoo on a cold winter’s day, how lovely lol XD this zoo is like so cool, you guys! Not extremely LOADED with animals, but it’s big, and most importantly, it’s CLEAN. We had lunch in the zoo itself. Wow, there’s more than one choice of places to eat. And it doesn’t even seem like it’s in a zoo! Really proper like any cafe on the street. Zoo Negara should offer such selections! Still can’t believe there’s no more KFC in the so-called national zoo… Anyway!

After lunch, continued to see the animals. I’ve seen kangaroos and koalas before during my Brisbane trip 9 years ago. But in this zoo, it was my first time seeing a real wombat!!! No clear photo tho. We saw it in the burrow, and I had to snap without flash, and the wombats keep moving. Blah… Nevermind, I saw it! So round and cute hehe. The only koala we saw was sleeping in between the branches, so we couldn’t get a photo at all. But we did see more than 1 type of kangaroo!
 A small one…

 A bigger one… “duuuuude…”

Oh, I also loved the Butterfly House. It’s like a big greenhouse to keep the temperature warm for the butterflies. So many fluttering around freely! Wheeee~ That was quite the experience ^^ But nothing beats the experience of the grizzly bear… At first we were like, oooh! Bears! Cute! Then the next thing we saw, made us pause and go, “…oh”. What was it? Warning: Do not look if you have a weak stomache:

Ready?

Here it is:

Heh yeah… It’s eating a… goat or something… We will never know O.o And there I was thinking that bears only eat fish!

We left soon and went to the city, Sis parked the car at Crown. While Dad was resting his motion sickness indoors, me and my siblings went outdoors to the late evening and camwhored in the cold streets of city night lol. Does that even make sense :P Anyhoo, this is me showing off the city night beyond the Yarra River:
 Ta-da…

Soon Dad was ok again, and we walked a few blocks away to the dinner place. We had korean BBQ this time!
Seafood pancake, few pieces taken lol.

 The BBQ pit.
The shadow in the middle is from the hose that connects down from the ceiling, it’s the smoke sucker lol.

 Kimchi soup.
This was so spicy, dude… Ended up pouring the soup into Dad’s bowl, and I just had the kimchi flavored tofu lol. All in all, it was a good meal. But then again, I’m not exactly a great fan of korean food :P It’s alright, I guess XD

Walked back to the car all the way in Crown. Brrr so cold… Stopped by a bit to watch the hourly fire fountain thingie. Ahem, I mean… the MIGHTY FIRE FOUNTAAAAIIIN~!!! Konon lah lol. It’s hard to capture a shot of the towers spewing out the flames, but just for you to get an idea:
 Terrible photo =_=

Got home and online as usual. Chatted with Darling for a bit when I suddenly got disconnected, not sure why. I couldn’t get connected back. I’m guessing that the problem was that Sis’ prepaid internet ran out :P Oops lol. Oh well, early bedtime then!
